a hindu wedding, reena and amar, oxford
what’s not to love about Hindu weddings ? firstly, there is red ! lots of it. yay ! sparkles, jewelled red veils, henna-decorated hands and feet, bangles up to your elbows, incense, fire … i could go on and on … the elegance of a sari, and … ah … malai kofta ! the groom gets his feet washed by the bride’s parents { always creates a few smirks } .. the bride and groom get fed nibbly sweet titbits throughout the ceremony. i was lucky to already know Amar’s family when i shot this very special hindu wedding at Poundon House in the beautiful historic city of Oxford. i had photographed his brother’s wedding two years ago in Palma de Mallorca. Amar referred to me as “the family photographer”. i was so touched by this. there is always something so celebratory and sacred in the traditions of a hindu wedding. i am always moved. i hope the pics move you just as much.
